Aldborough Village Fayre

Aldborough Village Fayre, an annual mid-summer Fayre, granted in medieval times by King John, an event steeped in  the history of our community.  The Fayre has evolved into the Fayre we now enjoy, as close to the summer solstice as possible.

In the 1980’s it evolved into a Trade and Leisure Weekend and became a fund raising venture, helping local charities or causes. Speaking to Angie Palmer, one of the committee members during that time, “We once raised money to buy an electric wheelchair for a little boy with cerebral palsy.”

In 2018 a local lady, Valerie King, brought the Fayre back from the ashes. With a very small committee she put on a Fayre in the format we see today. It has grown and still fund raises for local causes.

The  Coronavirus Pandemic meant that the Fayre wasn’t put on in June 2020 or 2021 but came back stronger in 2022.

In 2023 the committee decided to go under the umbrella of the Parish Council to firm up  the relationship of the Fayre with the council. In it’s current format two councillors attend meetings to assist the committee with the organising of the Fayre.

This is a yearly event held in June. It is usually the nearest Sunday to the summer solstice.

This year’s Fayre is the 22nd June 2025 from 12 - 6pm.
