Village Sign

The main part of the old village sign was originally thought to be beyond repair, but it was confirmed that it could be renovated and that was done by one of our parishioners. It was agreed that the original carving of the fair would be repainted professionally and the reverse side would be planed down and painted as “Old Cricketers”, a cricket scene drawn by the winner of the competition held during 2018.

The nameplate was then carved on oak

The original heraldic panels were repainted as well as the original corner panels. A parishioner remade parts of the metal frame free of charge and one of our parish councillors then painted the frame, also free of charge, thereby  saving on the costs.

We are very grateful to Village Care who have kindly donated £100 to the project and to all those who put in time and effort to enable the sign to be completed.  Thanks also to Cllr. Gallant who put in many hours organising and dealing with the project from start to completion.
